About the Artist

My name is Sheeba. I am an Egg artist based in Essex.

I love using eggs as my canvas to create beautiful artwork from carving, painting, etching, and embroidering on eggshells.

Eggshells signify the birth of a new life. Eggshells for me represent birth, fertility, hope and purity.  In many Asian cultures, eggs are also seen as a symbol of luck and wealth. Eggs are believed to bring good luck to anyone who receives them.

These eggshells sculptures make for very unusual and sentimental gifts for special occasions all year round.

My Inspiration

I remember during my wedding preparations a few years ago, I was on the hunt for very unique gifts for close family and friends.

My search for an artisan boutique that I could work closely with, was inspired by a desire to gift our loved ones and very special guests,  unique, sentimental, and memorable keepsakes from our wedding day.  I wanted to create a bespoke experience in the shape of gifts that were very unusual and would evoke a strong desire to possess them. Pieces that were not only thoughtful and sentimental but would also pull at my heartstrings instantly.

I wanted something different than personalised engravings on a luxury handbag or a watch for example. My search at the time reached a dead end to my disappointment as I couldn't find anything that was very unusual and apt for the occasion.

Many years later, Hatchfully Yours came into existence in 2019, with an aim to offer you something very unusual and exquisite out of real eggshells. Special keepsakes that incorporate your personality, your likes, your fondest memories of a loved one, and most of all, sculptures that are of extreme sentimental value to you and your recipients.

I was creative as a child. Growing up, my favorite things to do were drawing and watching Disney cartoons. This art form really inspired me to learn animation in university and animation schools.

I had an exciting opportunity of being a part of the documentary series on Channel 5 called the 'Wonderful World of crafting' aired in the winter of 2019, carving these unusual eggshell sculptures. It was such a lovely experience.

On an Easter afternoon, my friends challenged me to try and empty an eggshell without cracking it. We tried toothpicks, my mum's knitting needles, an old rusty drill lying in the garage, you name it. All we were left with, was a stinking mess in the backyard and lots of cracked eggshells!! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣This experiment got my attention and I went on to research how to do this. That opened up a new world of egg art from artists and craftsmen around the world and I was spellbound. 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 !! Hand carvings on eggshells 𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 and started me on a journey of practice, patience, and new discoveries.

I believe that eggshells go beyond Easter and especially these delicate artisan sculptures that I hand carve, etch, paint and embroider here at the Hatchfully Yours headquarters.
